Can Cascadia as a region join forces to create a larger city-state? I like Vancouver’s odds as a place to import folks that your country makes it a hassle to have work on your side of the border.

Somewhere in here is new forms of structure / compensation that wrap around individuals and a rotating orb of companies. Phrases like Co-op and Guild come to mind.

I wonder how to discover / encourage your local regions specialization vector. For a variety of reasons, I think Vancouver has good history with web & open source, but I don’t know that it’s strong enough to be a full specialization.
